We are a community improvement award winner located near the picturesque Beaver Valley. Also the site of the Logan Fontenelle Monument where the famous Omaha Indian Chief, Logan Fontenelle (White Horse), was killed in 1855. We have two public parks and are the home of the annual Nebraska State Antique Tractor and Horse Plowing Bee and the Rae Valley Old Threshers Reunion in August.

Wind Development

Laredo Ridge Wind Farm, LLC is located approximately 3 miles east of Petersburg on Hwy 32.  This wind farm became fully operational in January of 2011 and has 54 1.5 megawatts (MW) wind turbines that generate up to 80MW of wind energy.   The wind farm is owned and operated by Edison Mission who contracts with Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) through a 20-year Public Power Agreement. 

The Third Planet Windpower wind farm, TPW Petersburg, is located near Laredo Ridge Wind Farm east of Petersburg and will become fully operational in the fall of 2011.  This wind farm consists of 27 1.5-MW turbines that provide 40-MW of electricity to Omaha Public Power District, (OPPD). 

FUN FACT:  One 1.5MW turbine will supply enough energy for approximately 500 homes!
